Frequently Asked Questions
Who should participate?
If you have ever adopted a child who is currently age 18 or younger, and you live in Virginia, we want your input. It is critical for us to hear about problems and challenges as well as success stories. So, please consider participating if you have struggled with your adoption, even if you have a child who is no longer living with you.
What is the purpose of this consultation?
This consultation seeks to take an in-depth look at current post-adoption needs and resources in Virginia and use the understandings gained to inform the creation of a continuum of adoption support and preservation services that includes preventive and early-intervention services as well as clinical interventions for very challenging situations.
Why is this consultation important?
Ultimately, the goal is to effectively support the permanency, stability and well-being of adoptive families by ensuring equal access to a more standardized, evidence-based/informed continuum of services and supports to address challenges, regardless of where the family lives in the Commonwealth.
What will participation involve?
We both need and welcome the involvement of those most knowledgeable about adoption
