Oma and Shannon are both caseworkers and supervisors, assisting adoptive families through the Post Adoption Support Services grant. Oma has been working in child welfare for over 20 years and has experience as a kinship caregiver and foster parent. Shannon has 18 years of experience working in child welfare and was herself a former foster youth who was adopted as an adult.
This workshop will explain the critical purpose and value of Lifebook work for an adopted person and his or her loved ones. Oma and Shannon will review a variety of Lifebook methods. Throughout the session, Shannon's personal experiences will illuminate the importance of gathering and consolidating the personal history information of foster/adoptive/kinship children. Attendees will learn how to handle tough topics and resistance during Lifebook work with both youth and parents.
This webinar will be a public webinar but will also later be posted to NewFound Families Facebook and Youtube as well as our webinar archives on the website!
