Support Group for High School Students with ADD/ADHD or Exec.Function

This support group is for all High School students with ADD/ADHD or Executive Function issues [Diagnosed or not]. Meetings are held on the 1st Sunday of every month.

Students will discuss issues caused by ADD/ADHD and strategies for dealing with them, as well as other ADD/ADHD topics.

To allow for a safe space for teens to share their struggles and concerns, we ask that parents not attend the meetings.

Disclaimer: This is NOT a therapy group. It is for the support and communication with other students with some of the same ADHD issues and may have strategies that help.

About the Support Group Leader: Anne S. Roberts, MA is a retired Fairfax County Public Schools’ teacher with a Special Education background in Gifted and Talented secondary students and additional certifications in all areas of English Language Arts and Humanities. She has led CHADD support groups for ADHD Adults, is a co-founder for the ADHD Resource Group of Northern VA, and was formerly on the NoVa CHADD Board of Directors as for Director of Support Groups and Director of Adolescent Services. She is a Coach and Educational Consultant for Underachieving Teens, specializing in Gifted, ADHD, and Right-Brained Visual-Spatial students and CEO at BrainRelief.org. Ms. Roberts has ADHD herself.

U.S. INFANT & WAITING CHILD ADOPTION ORIENTATION

Information will be shared about the advantages, risks and opportunities of all types of adoption. Specific information will be shared about our Parental Placement (US open infant adoption) program and our Waiting Child program (older children from foster care or foreign countries). Orientation meetings are free and open to the public and required of families at the beginning of the home study process. Please call C2Adopt @ (804) 354-1881 to register at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled dateOrientation meetings are held from 6:30 – 8:30 PM at the office of C2Adopt.

Core Issues, Attachment & Openness in Adoption

about the Core Issues of Adoption, forming healthy attachments and the unique aspects of initiating, forming and sustainingan open adoption relationship with your child’s birth family. When available, guest speakers will include adoptive and birth parents who are currently living in an open adoption relationship. Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Birth Parent & Adult Adoptee Support Group

This support group is free and available to any adult adoptee or any parent who has placed a child for adoption regardless of when, how or with another agency. This group is also open and available to anyone contemplating adoption for their child as an opportunity to speak with others who have lived the experience. Extended family members are also welcome to attend. The group is led by a social worker, who is also a birth mother and an adoptee.
